Elections Free of Disinformation
Ideathon
Digital Communication Network Global (DCN) is excited to announce the "Elections Free of Disinformation"ideathon, scheduled to take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on July 9-10, 2024. This event aims to pioneer innovative strategies to combat disinformation in future elections.
The ideathon is a part of DCN Global's ongoing commitment to fostering a transparent and informed electoral process. Since the beginning of 2024, DCN has initiated several projects aimed at equipping individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the complex digital landscape during this important election year.
Elections Project
Throughout the year, DCN Global has been hosting a series of online discussions, bringing together experts in digital communications, political analysis, and cybersecurity. These discussions have provided insights into effective strategies for combating disinformation worldwide. Additionally, DCN has been publishing a dedicated monthly newsletter on Substack, highlighting pertinent election disinformation trends and insights. Moreover, the Election DCN Global Telegram Channel has served as a platform for exchanging information and staying informed about developments in electoral integrity efforts.
Thessaloniki Ideathon
The Thessaloniki ideathon presents an opportunity to build upon these ongoing initiatives. Participants will brainstorm and collaborate to develop effective digital campaigns aimed at combating disinformation in future elections. Analysts will join both in person and virtually from countries where recent elections have taken place, including the June 2024 elections for the European Parliament, discussing innovative solutions and actionable strategies to safeguard the integrity of the information space in electoral contexts worldwide.
The forum is organized by World Learning and Digital Communication Network Global with funding from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
