The Ukrainian Digital Creators U.S. Exchange Program aims to empower a diverse array of digital professionals from Ukraine, aged 18-30, including YouTubers, bloggers, Instagrammers, podcasters, and digital journalists, amidst Ukraine's challenges with social media misuse, disinformation, and cybersecurity threats. Scheduled from October 9-23, 2024, this program will immerse participants in various facets of digital communication and activism.
U.S. Exchange
During their time in the U.S., starting in Washington DC, participants will visit media organizations, digital startups, and civic institutions. They will engage in discussions with young social activists to understand effective strategies for amplifying social causes and gaining visibility. Meetings with policymakers and non-governmental organizations will provide a comprehensive view of policy aspects related to Ukraine, fostering a deeper understanding of international support mechanisms.
Participants will travel to two other U.S. cities, including New York City, to explore a broad range of topics, from new and legacy media to strategic communication and civil society messaging. Participants will engage in discussions and workshops designed to enhance their digital skills, campaign strategies, and outreach techniques. The exchange will also include a segment focused on political campaigns and the American electoral process, giving participants exposure to these topics at a critical time in the U.S. election season.
A core aspect of the program is its hands-on approach to digital literacy, equipping participants with tools to identify and combat disinformation effectively. Workshops will empower them to build online organizations and develop media campaigns that resonate with global audiences, enhancing awareness of Ukrainian issues and fostering international solidarity.
The exchange is organized by World Learning and Digital Communication Network Global with funding from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
