The inauguration of the Digital Communication Network Global East Asia Hub in Bali marks a significant milestone in fostering social innovation and supporting communities across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore. The event's focus is on digital literacy, specifically addressing the transitions between Internet 2.0 and Internet 3.0.
DAY 1
Sessions during the first day include:
• Understanding Internet 3.0:
An overview of Internet 3.0, covering blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, IoT, and decentralized platforms, and how these advancements reshape our digital interactions.
• Digital Literacy for Internet 3.0:
Exploring essential skills such as critical thinking, media literacy, data privacy, and digital citizenship, with practical tips for confidently navigating the digital world.
• Navigating Digital Platforms and Ecosystems:
Strategies for effectively leveraging digital platforms and engaging online communities for personal and professional growth, with real-world case studies.
• Information Ecosystems and Combating Disinformation:
Tackling challenges of disinformation and misinformation, with discussions on fact-checking methods, media literacy, and promoting information integrity.
• Internet Security in the Context of Internet:
Addressing the latest trends and threats in internet security, including cyberattacks and data breaches, with practical strategies for safeguarding personal and organizational data.
DAY 2
The second day focuses on conceptualizing DCN's East Asian hub, with a collaborative approach to identify unique needs and develop solutions. Participants, primarily from previous DCN Global activities or the DCN Global Network, will contribute ideas and participate in brainstorming sessions.
The DCN East Asia Hub will serve as an incubator for merging technological advancements with social awareness, fostering innovative ideas, and providing resources for executing projects.
Application Process - Criteria
Participants will be selected through this open application process based on stated expertise and interest in the listed topics. Special consideration will be given to those individuals who can contribute to and benefit from the discussions. Participants should also be interested in being involved in DCN’s development in East Asia.
- Up to 40 participants from participating countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore
- Applicants can come from Civil Society, New Media, Academia, Technology Fields, Digital Creators and Influencers and have expertise / interest in issues such as Combating Disinformation, Trends in Digital Technology, Digital and Media Literacy, Active Citizenship, Cyber Security, Social Media Campaigns, E-Governance, Web 3.0. (Metaverse, AI, etc), Journalism
- Preferred ages 18 - 35
- Proficient in conversational English

The forum organizers will arrange and cover economy-class flights, hotel accommodations in shared rooms for participants and single rooms for speakers, most meals, and social activities during the event. Obtaining visas is the responsibility of the participants.
The forum is organized by Digital Communication Network Global and World Learning with funding from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
