The Digital Communication Network’s inaugural event in Sydney, Australia, will gather thought leaders, influencers, and digital professionals from across East Asia and the Pacific to examine how innovations, disruptions, and challenges to information systems are influencing business, politics, society, and the very fabric of daily lives.
Digital leaders, representing a variety of fields including academia, civil society, new and traditional media, government, social entrepreneurs, think-tanks, and technology will discuss the impact of a rapidly transforming digital landscape on human freedoms and expression.
The DCN is a collaborative network working across borders, sectors, and generations to track digital trends, amplify credible voices, foster digitally responsible citizens, and build resilient communities able to live and thrive in the digital world. DCN’s premise is that, in an age of informational disruptions, only coalitions of like-minded professionals can harness cross-sector innovation to address the multiple challenges facing 21st century information systems. Comparable to previous DCN inaugural events in Africa, Europe, and the Western Hemisphere, this two-day forum will be the first step in the creation of a regional network of digital innovators and consumers. The regional forum will be followed by virtual events and opportunities for collaboration.
The forum’s focus on Information Integrity in the Digital Age provides an opportunity to assemble and develop coalitions from countries across the region committed to accurate information. The launch event will be conducted in English, with future programs offered in English and other languages.
Topics for the event include:
- Trust in technology, the Internet, financial systems, and democracy
- Resilience in information ecosystems, promoting information integrity, combating disinformation, exposing conspiracies in Web 2.0 and Web 3.0
- The future of digital influence in civic literacy, social good, fostering inclusive communities, and supporting diverse voices.
