The conflict in Sudan: Root Causes, Implications, and Solutions in the Digital Age

Sudan is a country that has been marred by conflicts for several years, with devastating consequences on its people. The ongoing conflict has claimed countless lives, displaced thousands of individuals, and caused significant social and economic disruptions. With such grave consequences, there is an urgent need to understand the root causes of the conflict and explore possible solutions to promote peace, justice, and human rights in Sudan.

To shed more light on this important issue, DCN Africa will organize a Twitter Spaces discussion with the title "The conflict in Sudan: Root Causes, Implications, and Solutions in the Digital Age." The discussion will take place on Friday 28 April 2023 at 17.00 EEST (set a reminder here) and it will feature a panel of distinguished experts in various fields.

The experts that will be part of this Twitter Spaces discussion include Jehanne Henry, Khalid Mustafa Medani, Aurra Kawanzaruwa, and Nikos Panagiotou. These experts are well-versed in human rights, political science, digital communication, and journalism, and they will bring their expertise to bear on this important issue.

Jehanne Henry is a human rights lawyer who formerly served as an adviser to Sudan's minister of justice in 2020-2021. Khalid Mustafa Medani is a professor of political science and Islamic studies at McGill University, and he has written several books and articles on Sudan, including on the role of identity and ideology in the conflict. Aurra Kawanzaruwa is an award-winning serial entrepreneur, educator, and digital native who is passionate about using digital tools to promote social justice and human rights. Nikos Panagiotou is an Associate Professor at the School of Journalism and Mass Media Communication, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the president of DCN Global.

During the Twitter Spaces discussion, the experts will delve into the root causes of the conflict in Sudan, the various actors involved, and the implications for the people of Sudan, the region, and the world at large. They will also discuss possible solutions and ways digital tools can contribute towards promoting peace, justice, and human rights in Sudan.
