On 24 February 2022, Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. The world was rocked by the news, making the headlines of most Western media houses instantly. By the end of the first day of the war, the hashtag #WWIII (World War Three) was trending on every major social media platform, sparking global concerns about the dire implications of such a war.
 
However, for the rest of the world, the war felt distant, with some even calling it fake news. Over the next few days, the news of the war in Ukraine would begin to trickle into headlines across the world. But not all headlines were a true reflection of the situation on the ground.
