Digital Trends Metaverse Webinar

During the webinar, well-known speakers from all over the world discussed and presented their views on what the metaverse is, why it’s important, some of the current trends, and what we might expect for metaverse development in 2022.

Key points

The Metaverse, is a new world, a place where many different and unexpected opportunities will arise. The Metaverse is the way to create realities and live in a digital and inter-connected world. Web 3.0. is the next generation of the Internet, where possibilities are truly limitless. Our world now is all about the Metaverse, NFTs and cryptocurrencies. The Metaverse opens a new era of mankind. It’s a space that breaks through the boundaries of reality.

The Metaverse will change how everything works, so we need to understand that we will not have just one metaverse but a multi-verse, or many metaverses. The Metaverse refers to communication industries, between human beings and their immersive experiences. The Metaverse includes expanding social media possibilities, beneficiaries for social media, marketing and branding where users can get real world experiences. The Metaverse connects something from the real world with the virtual world, for example, video games turning into Netflix shows. The Metaverse is what we build on it and exists on free technologies, like Web 3.0, blockchain and extended reality like AR and VR. It’s a combination of elements. Web 3.0 it’s the newest version of the internet, where you can own part of the internet, everything you make it’s yours, and you have full rights.

The Metaverse functions in a digital world of Web 3.0., so there is a great need to build the infrastructure of the digital world that we live in by means of emerging technologies. In Mixed Reality, someone sees the emerging of the real with the virtual world, where they co-exist to create a new reality. Right now, the digital world still operates through a device. Whatever we have in the physical world, we can actually recreate it in the metaverse. In the Metaverse, there isn’t currency, however crypto-currency is being used to buy and sell and operate in the market economy. Big brands having their own shops within the Metaverse, to create a new market within a world that is outside the physical world but connected within it. You are interacting with the virtual world but the effects can be linked with your real life. You can have different currencies within different metaverse and you can create more and more new markets.

It's important to integrate privacy and human rights by design into this emerging technology. The Metaverse is not a space without digital harms, especially harassment. These technologies are designed to get to know people more, they can create an incredibly accurate digital model of someone. We need to become natives in this land to see the new opportunities and to understand how this new landscape is created.
